Today marks exactly seven years since the death of David Sarukhanov, who died in November 2016 while on duty. Employees of the 5th Fire and Rescue Squad of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia honored the memory of their comrade with a minute of silence and laid red carnations on his grave. In addition, colleagues visited David’s family.

Several years ago, in memory of the hero, one of the streets in the city of Evpatoria and the Suvorov school in the Saki district were named after the deceased firefighter.

Sarukhanov David Aleksandrovich died tragically on November 29, 2016, while on duty in a fire due to the collapse of a building slab on the territory of the Evpatoria cold storage plant.

On that tragic day, a message about a fire was received at 06:25 at the central fire communications point of the fire extinguishing service of the 5th fire and rescue squad of the Federal Fire Service for the Republic of Crimea. A message about a fire was received at the address: Evpatoria, st. 51st Army, 3 at JSC «Evpatoria Cold Storage Plant». Information was also received that there may be people in the building (persons without a fixed place of residence). This information was transmitted to RTP-1. RTP-1 decided to conduct an additional inspection of adjacent premises and search for possible victims from the central entrance to the building. The squad entered the building. During the reconnaissance, at the entrance to the building, a partial collapse of building structures (reinforced concrete slab and wall) occurred over an area of ​​about 70 square meters. meters.

Internal service sergeant Sarukhanov D.A. was covered by a collapsed covering slab, as a result of which it ended up under rubble. As a result of the collapse, Sarukhanov D.A. received non-life-threatening injuries and died at the scene— said the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Republic of Crimea.

David Sarukhanov was awarded the state award of the Republic of Crimea — the medal “For Courage in Fire” (posthumously).
