In Crimea, mothers have the final say in choosing a name for a child
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In the service survey Superjob Representatives of the economically active population from Crimea took part.
86% of Crimeans are happy with their name, with women and men almost equally happy. 9% are unhappy, but do not plan to change their name. Only 1 person out of 100 has changed or plans to change their name. 60% of parents answered that they chose the name for their child themselves, with women more often claiming that they had the final say in the choice. 30% gave this opportunity to their other half, — the service’s press service reported.
The vast majority of parents (95%) like their child’s name, and yet those who chose the name themselves are slightly more likely to be satisfied.
45% of parents will react negatively to their child’s decision to change their name. Every fourth parent claims that they will take a neutral position. 7% will take this step favorably. It is worth noting that mothers are more tolerant — they say significantly more often than fathers that in such a difficult situation they will remain calm or support the child’s decision.
