In Crimea, officials from the leadership of the Federal Penitentiary Service were detained for bribes

In Crimea, a criminal case has been initiated against the first deputy head of the Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, the interim head of SIZO-2 and the deputy head of SIZO-1. The investigator for the investigation of especially important cases is charged with accepting bribes by a group of persons by prior agreement on a large scale. Another person involved in the criminal case, a resident of St. Petersburg, is suspected of giving bribes to officials.
It has been established that since 2022, on a contractual basis, the St. Petersburg company has been delivering parcels to persons held in pre-trial detention centers on a daily basis. The director of the company organized an online store for choosing and buying various goods for the needs of prisoners. The first deputy head of the Federal Penitentiary Service, together with the above subordinates, received bribes from the businesswoman for the patronage of the company and the transportation of parcels without an appropriate inspection— reports the press service of the regional department of the Sledkom.
Illegal activities of officials of the FSIN system of the peninsula were revealed by operational officers of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
The day before, the first deputy head of the Republican Federal Penitentiary Service and the bribe giver were detained in St. Petersburg by officers of the Crimean Federal Security Service with the forceful support of a special unit of the Republican Directorate of the Russian Guard, searches and initial investigative actions were organized at the places of residence of the suspects in the northern capital. Currently, the detainees are being transferred to Simferopol for the employees of the Russian Investigative Committee to carry out all necessary further measures with them as part of the investigation of the criminal case. These individuals pleaded guilty to the crimes— clarified in the Sledkom.
The deputy head of SIZO-1 and the acting head of SIZO-2 were detained in Simferopol. Searches were also carried out at their places of work, items and documentation of interest to the investigating authorities were confiscated.
Currently, the Department for the Investigation of Particularly Important Cases, in cooperation with colleagues from the FSB, is establishing other participants in the criminal scheme and all the circumstances of the committed corruption crimes.
