In Crimea, parents want children to be taught how to cook, work with wood and sew during labor lessons
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Cooking, carpentry, handicrafts, minor household repairs and working with power tools are the top 5 most useful activities in labor lessons, according to parents. In an open service survey SuperJob mothers and fathers of schoolchildren from Crimea took part.
Vladimir Putin signed a law introducing compulsory labor lessons in schools from September 1, 2024. When asked about the most relevant skills and abilities that would be useful to teach children in labor lessons, the majority of parents of primary school and middle school students named cooking (21 and 27%, respectively). According to parents, high school students should first of all be taught basic sewing and clothing repair skills (23%). Handicrafts, along with carpentry, are among the top 3 wishes of parents of students in grades 1–4 and 5–9,” noted the service’s press service.
According to parents, schoolchildren also need to be taught how to use hand and power tools (screwdriver, wrench, screwdriver, drill, etc.). The older the children, the more often their parents mentioned plumbing and electrical work.
Mothers and fathers of high school students, more often than parents of junior and middle school students, dream that their children will be taught all the skills a modern person needs in everyday life. Among the skills that are relevant for high school students are driving and auto repair.
