In Crimea, students participating in the competition for the 60th anniversary of the ROC were awarded

The first competition of student art works dedicated to Cuba was held at the Crimean Engineering and Pedagogical University named after F.Ya. Yakubov (KIPU) in Simferopol. Students presented essays, stories and paintings with Cuban landscapes and portraits for the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Russian Society for Friendship with Cuba (RODC).
Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers — Minister of Finance of the Republic of Crimea, head of the regional branch of the Russian Orthodox Church Irina Kiviko told reporters about this.
We are very glad that today, on the day of the sixtieth anniversary of the Russian-Cuban Friendship Society, we are summing up the results of the competition “Russia-Cuba. A story of friendship.» It is very pleasant that 46 students took part in the competition and presented their works, performed at a very high level. This is an example of friendship between our peoples, and this friendship, believe me, is felt in Cuba, — said Irina Kiviko.
The winners were:
in the category “Essays, journalistic works”:
— 1st degree laureate — Maria Kotsareva, essay “Che Guevara in Russian media: a revolutionary image in the 21st century”;
— 2nd degree laureate — Minela Makarenko, essay “Journey to Happiness”;
— III degree laureate — Marina Lomivorotova, essay “The Path of Cuban Coffee: from Haiti to Russian Coffee Houses”;
in the nomination “Graphic and artistic works”:
— 1st degree laureate — Maria Palekha, creative work “Streets of Cuba”;
— 2nd degree laureate — Milena Kulish, creative work “Cuban Girl with Maracas”;
— III degree laureate Alisa Budylenko, creative work “Fruits”.
The winners of the competition were awarded diplomas and memorable gifts.
The best 5 works recognized at the end of the competition in the direction of “essays, journalistic works” will be sent for participation in the All-Russian competition from the Republic of Crimea,” announced the Deputy Prime Minister.
As part of the event, a video congratulation on the 60th anniversary of the Russian Orthodox Church was warmly received by the Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation, President of the Russian Russian Orthodox Church Alexey Lavrov.
Irina Kiviko also noted that representatives of the Crimean authorities and entrepreneurs are negotiating with their Cuban colleagues about the need for further interaction, strengthening not only cultural, but also scientific and technological ties. She recalled that it was in Crimea that students from Cuba were trained for the first time in the USSR back in 1962. They studied to become machine operators, vegetable growers, livestock breeders, and engineers.
Now our country is providing support to Cuba and we, too, within the framework of public diplomacy, are taking part in this. It’s very nice that young people are joining these events.,” emphasizes Irina Kiviko.
Information: The interregional public organization “Russian Society of Friendship with Cuba” is the legal successor of the All-Union Society of Soviet-Cuban Friendship, founded on November 11, 1964. The first president of the Friendship Society was the first cosmonaut on the planet, Yuri Gagarin. The first organizational meeting was attended by the official delegation of the government of the Republic of Cuba, headed by Ernesto Che Guevara.
The activities of the RODC are aimed at promoting the development and strengthening of cultural, scientific and humanitarian ties, friendship between peoples and cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Cuba. Russian President Vladimir Putin sent congratulations on the 60th anniversary of the ROC.
