The winners were awarded by the Speaker of the Republican Parliament.
On the eve of June 22 — the Day of Memory and Sorrow, the 82nd anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War, Vladimir Konstantinov, Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea, awarded the winners of the children’s contest of creative works «Palette of Memory».
This competition is held annually with the support of the Mirny Charitable Foundation. This year, about 400 people took part in it, including children from new subjects of Russia. According to the head of the Crimean parliament, June 22, 1941 is a significant date in the history of the entire Russian world.
From that day began a period of colossal tragedy for our people and, at the same time, the time of their great feat. After the signing of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, which gave the USSR hope for postponing the war to a later date (there was no doubt about its inevitability), the attack of the Nazi troops on June 22 was unexpected. Bombs fell on the heads of people, the civilian population was destroyed along with military installations. 1941 was the year of determining whether we can defeat the Nazi hydra, which was formed in the bowels of European civilization, absorbed all its power. And despite all the horrors of the war, our people won the Victory, which made it great, thanks to which even today Russia remains one of the most influential states in the world.Vladimir Konstantinov said.
The Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea congratulated the winners of the competition and wished all its participants new creative successes.
