In Crimea, the acquittal of a suspect in organizing a murder was overturned
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In Crimea, at the request of the state prosecutor, the acquittal of a man accused of organizing the murder of a resident of St. Petersburg was overturned.
The Third Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction, having considered the prosecutor’s appeal, overturned the court’s verdict, which found a 42-year-old resident of another region not guilty of committing crimes under Part 3 of Article 33, paragraphs. “g”, “h” part 2 art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of a murder committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, for hire, associated with robbery), Part 3 of Art. 33, paragraph “c”, part 4, art. 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of robbery committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, on a large scale, causing grievous harm to the health of the victim). The court’s verdict was made on the basis of a not guilty verdict by the jury— reported the prosecutor’s office.
According to the investigation, in 2018 the accused organized the murder of a resident of St. Petersburg. To this end, he developed a plan, found the perpetrators of the crime, whom he assisted in committing the crime. Two residents of the region, acting in accordance with a previously developed agreement, kidnapped a resident of St. Petersburg in order to take possession of a Mercedes-Benz car. To do this, the men suggested that the victim stage a traffic accident involving his car. After the latter agreed with the attackers’ proposal, they arrived at a sparsely populated place in the Sudak region, where they beat and strangled the man. They stole a car belonging to a resident of St. Petersburg, worth more than 800 thousand rubles.
Having disagreed with the judicial act, the state prosecutor appealed it to the appellate court, which agreed with the arguments of the prosecutor’s office, overturned the verdict and sent the case to the trial court for a new trial,” the prosecutor’s office clarified.
Previously, the accomplices in the commission of crimes were sentenced by the courts to 14 and 11 years of imprisonment, serving their sentences in a maximum security correctional colony.
