In Crimea, the ex-chairman of the village council was convicted. Participated in an illegal armed formation

The Kirovsky District Court of the Republic of Crimea found guilty a 60-year-old resident of the village. Bright Field in participation in an illegal armed formation for purposes contrary to the interests of the Russian Federation.

The court established that in January 2016, a resident of the Kirovsky district, realizing the public danger of his actions, voluntarily joined the illegal armed formation «Crimean Tatar Volunteer Battalion named after Noman Chelebidzhikhan» (hereinafter referred to as the IAG, the organization was recognized as a terrorist organization by the Russian court and its activities were banned for territory of the Russian Federation), where he shared and supported the goals of the creation and activities of the specified illegal armed formations, which were contrary to the interests of the Russian Federation. Being a member of the specified illegal armed formation, the defendant from January 2016 to May 2022 took an active part in its activities, performed functional duties to ensure the activities of the participants in this formation— noted in the press service of the court.

Thus, by his deliberate actions, the convict committed a crime under Part 2 of Art. 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — participation on the territory of a foreign state in an armed formation not provided for by the legislation of this state, for purposes contrary to the interests of the Russian Federation.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the crime charged against him.

The verdict did not enter into force.
