In Crimea, the investigation of the leader of the Kerch cell of the prohibited organization “Jehovah's Witnesses” was completed

The main investigative department of the IC of Russia in the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol completed an investigation into a criminal case against a 53-year-old resident of Kerch.

A man is accused of organizing the activities of a religious organization in respect of which the court has made a decision that has entered into legal force on the liquidation or prohibition of activities in connection with the implementation of extremist activity (part 1 of article 282.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). In 2017, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation decided to liquidate the organization of “Jehovah’s Witnesses” and its regional units in connection with the implementation of extremist activities. At the same time, a resident of Kerch, who was part of the highest governing body of the district cell of “Jehovah’s Witnesses, Kerch” (the organization was recognized as an extremist and its activities in Russia), continued to ensure its active activity. The man coordinated the holding of adherents, where the ideas of a prohibited religious organization were promoted, -The press service of the department reported.

The illegal activity of the defendant was identified and suppressed by employees of the republican administrations of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the power support of rosons of the Russian Guard.

During the searches at the place of residence of the defendant and the meeting, prohibited literature and other illegal materials were seized.

The investigation collected a strong evidence base. The criminal investigation has been completed. With approved indictment, it was sent to the court for consideration on the merits.
