The head of the Special Humanitarian Center of the Crimean Metropolis, Archpriest Dimitry Krotkov, as part of a special squad of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Republic of Crimea, visited the Kosmo-Damianovsky Monastery to study the situation and eliminate the consequences of the disaster that raged in Crimea. According to Father Dimitry, the road from Alushta and the village of Izobilnoye is currently completely washed out. Arrival is possible through Yalta and Roman-Kosh along the upper road, but these paths were covered with snow.
The monastery already suffered a similar natural disaster two years ago when a mudflow occurred. This year a torrent of enormous force descended, causing serious damage to the monastery buildings. Further, according to experts, special equipment will be required for backfilling. The stream washed out a crevice almost 20 meters wide and about 7 meters deep in the upper territory of the monastery, a large pit was washed out near the font, the Royal Chapel was flooded, all the benches and bridges were demolished, and many stones, trees and dead wood were brought in. The road is washed out at a distance of 4 km from the monastery.
