The Simferopol Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor’s Office, with the involvement of specialists from the Republican Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, as well as Rosselkhoznadzor, conducted an audit of compliance with the requirements of the legislation on subsoil use. Violations were revealed during the development of the Aromatnoye and Krymrozovskoye deposits in the Belogorsk region.
Two enterprises carried out the extraction of gravel and pebble rocks on agricultural lands on the basis of public easements established by the administrations of rural settlements for the placement of subsoil use facilities. At the same time, the establishment of a public easement is not a basis for the use of agricultural land for mining.
Under such circumstances, the environmental prosecutor challenged the decisions of the local administrations. The easements were terminated, however, the mining enterprises did not stop, in connection with which the prosecutor’s office filed suits in court to ban quarrying until the land was transferred to the appropriate categorythe prosecutor’s office said.
The court satisfied the prosecutor’s claims, banning the development of deposits.
