In Crimea, they honored the memory of Afghan heroes, all those who performed military duty outside the Fatherland

On February 15, 1989, the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan was completed.
Commemorative events dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of Russians who performed their official duties outside the Fatherland were held in Simferopol.
Veterans, internationalist soldiers, youth, government officials, social activists, and military personnel laid flowers at the memorial to the Crimeans who died in Afghanistan.
Addressing those present, the Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Aksyonov noted the tenacity of Afghan soldiers and their devotion to the Motherland:
35 years have passed since the last units of the Soviet troops left the territory of Afghanistan. Despite everything, the soldiers completed their assigned service tasks in full. They went to this with courage and honor, unfortunately, often at the cost of their lives. And this will forever remain in our memory.
The Head of the Republic expressed gratitude to those internationalist soldiers who defend the interests of the Motherland today.
In 2014, you formed the backbone of the Crimean militia, made an invaluable contribution to the victory of the Crimean Spring, and now you are taking an active part in the special operation. With such people, undoubtedly, only Victory awaits us. All tasks set by President Vladimir Putin will be completed,” the Head of Crimea emphasized.
According to the Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea, Vladimir Konstantinov, the Afghan war is part of our history, full of courage and dedication of our soldiers.
Then they fulfilled their military duty with honor. And today they are actively participating in achieving the goals of the Special Military Operation. The feat of internationalist warriors, like our other Defenders, inspires us and helps us achieve Victory over the enemysaid the head of the Crimean parliament.
A minute of silence was declared in memory of the fallen Afghan soldiers.
