In Crimea, three assistants of online fraudsters who defrauded six pensioners were detained in one day

In Crimea, Simferopol police officers detained three suspects in one day for committing five incidents of telephone fraud and one attempted fraud. Two of them are residents of a neighboring region, temporarily residing in the resort town. And one of them is a minor. Another detainee came from St. Petersburg.

The victims reported that they received calls on their mobile and landline phones from unknown persons who introduced themselves as police officers and reported that their relatives allegedly caused the accident, and that money was needed to resolve the issue of compensation for harm to the victims.

Believing strangers, three local residents aged 72, 84, and 93 years old gave the courier a total of about 1.6 million rubles. A 48-year-old citizen lost more than 1.4 million rubles, a 67-year-old pensioner gave the messenger 100 thousand rubles of his savings, and another Crimean woman aged 76 – 500 thousand rubles.

All the detained assistants of telephone scammers admitted their guilt and said that they found illegal part-time work on the Internet, in one of the groups of a popular messenger. They acted under the direction of an unknown person, who gave them instructions to carry out illegal actions aimed at illegally obtaining funds, with their further transfer to the specified account. For this they received 10% of the amount stolen— said the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.

Five criminal cases have been initiated under Part 3 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and one criminal case under Art. 30 and part 3 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The 21-year-old and 23-year-old attackers were taken into custody, and the court chose a preventive measure for the 17-year-old suspect in the form of an obligation to appear.
