In Crimea, wastewater was dropped into a therapeutic lake

Krympress reports:

The discharge of wastewater from the territory of treatment facilities to the medical Lake Saki was identified in the Crimea, the Federal Service for Supervision of Nature Management said.

Inspectors of Rosprirodnadzor, together with the prosecutor’s office, recorded the discharge of wastewater into the Lake Sakskoye (Crimea) from the territory of the sewer treatment facilities of the city of Saki. The object is under the jurisdiction of the State Unitary Enterprise of the Republic of Crimea «Water Crimea»— says in a common message.

Inspectors found that wastewater discharge was carried out through a plastic pipe brought to the lake. The laboratory tests showed an excess of maximum permissible concentrations of pollutants. Previously, environmental damage has been caused in the amount of 1.39 million rubles. With a request for compensation, Rosprirodnadzor appealed to the Arbitration Court of the Republic of Crimea.

The therapeutic Sakskoye Lake, which includes the western and eastern pools of the deposits of therapeutic mud and rap, is located in the territory of the Saki city district in Crimea. In 1807, the French scientist chemist Felix de Serra analyzed the Saki mud, this moment is considered the start of the development of the resorts of Crimea. In 1926, to study and preserve the therapeutic lake, a Saka hydrogeological regime-operational station (GGRES) was created, whose sphere of activity includes not only rational operation and preservation of a unique deposit of healing mud, but also the study of other balnean ecosystems of the country. Today, over 100 Russian sanatoriums use Saki therapeutic mud.
