In Evpatoria, the courier of telephone scammers received a year and a half in prison

In Evpatoria, a member of an organized group of telephone scammers was sentenced to imprisonment. A 21-year-old local resident was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“fraud committed on a large scale by an organized group”).
The court established that the young man joined an organized group of telephone scammers, in which he acted as a courier. Having informed a resident of Evpatoria false information that her friend was the culprit of a traffic accident, he received 100 thousand rubles from the victim to compensate for the harm caused to the victims of the accident— told the details in the prosecutor’s office.
Yevpatoriya City Court, agreeing with the position of the public prosecutor on the guilt of the defendant, sentenced the young man to 1 year and 6 months in prison to be served in a penal colony.
With regard to other members of the organized group, the investigation of the criminal case is ongoing.
