In Feodosia, a shuttle bus driver tried to bribe a traffic police officer

On November 7, 2023, during the daytime, traffic police inspectors stopped the driver of a Ford Transit shuttle bus, who in the village of Nasypnoye, Feodosia, crossed a solid marking line and overtook the vehicle. By his actions, the man violated traffic rules and also created an emergency situation, endangering his passengers and other road users.
The driver of the shuttle bus turned out to be a 51-year-old resident of the Saki district who had no previous convictions. The traffic police officers invited the citizen to go into the official car to draw up a protocol on an administrative offense under Part 4 of Art. 12.15 Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. According to current legislation, for this offense the driver could be deprived of the right to drive vehicles for a period of four to six months. The offender, intending to avoid responsibility, proposed to resolve the issue in a different way. The police warned the driver about responsibility for giving a bribe to an official, but the man did not react to their words and put 3 thousand rubles in the armrest of the patrol car.— the details of the case were announced in the press service of the Russian State Traffic Safety Inspectorate in Crimea.
Traffic police inspectors reported the incident to the duty station. An investigative team was called to the scene.
During interrogation, the man fully admitted his guilt. The citizen will have to answer according to the law for the corruption crime committed.
The Investigation Department of the Department of Internal Affairs for the city of Feodosia initiated a criminal case against the driver on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Art. 291.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — petty bribery.
The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to one year.
The citizen was given a preventive measure in the form of an obligation to appear.
Also, traffic police officers drew up a protocol on an administrative offense against the driver under Part 4 of Art. 12.15 Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation.
The State Traffic Inspectorate of Feodosia explains the responsibility for giving a bribe to an official: in accordance with Part 1 of Article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, for giving a bribe to an official a fine of up to 500,000 rubles is provided, or in the amount of the salary or other income of the convicted person for a period of up to one year , or in the amount of five to thirty times the amount of the bribe, or correctional labor for a term of up to two years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years or without it, or forced labor for a term of up to three years, or imprisonment for a term of up to two years with or without a fine in the amount of five to ten times the amount of the bribe.
In an attempt to avoid administrative prosecution for violating traffic rules, a person who offers a bribe to a traffic police officer exposes himself to criminal prosecution.
Giving a bribe, as well as receiving it, is a criminal offense for the recipient of the bribe and the person inciting to commit a corruption offense.
