In Feodosia, police detained a suspect in stealing money from an ATM bill acceptor

A 33-year-old local resident, who lost 21 thousand rubles, contacted the duty station of the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia in the city of Feodosia with a statement of theft. Police officers established that the man was depositing money onto the card and, not making sure that the ATM accepted the money and the transaction was completed, left. A 63-year-old local resident standing behind him in line decided to take advantage of the situation and stole the money.
The suspect explained that he withdrew his money and, taking someone else’s money, left the bank branch. The attacker gave the stolen money to his wife, but he did not specify that it was stolen— said the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.
The investigation of the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia in the city of Feodosia opened a criminal case against the suspect on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Theft). The sanction of the article provides for a maximum penalty of imprisonment for a term of up to five years.
The suspect was given a preventive measure in the form of a recognizance not to leave the place. The materials of the criminal case were sent to the city court.

Under no circumstances should you take money forgotten by another person. Each ATM has a support number that you can call and voice the situation, or report the incident to the administration of the institution where the ATM is installed, or call the police on 102.
