In honor of Constitution Day, the State Council of the Republic awarded the most worthy and active Crimeans
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In honor of the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea Vladimir Konstantinov presented state awards and insignia to Crimeans who have made a significant contribution to the development of the Republic.
According to the head of the regional parliament, it is the Crimeans who have their own unique experience in the matter of constitutional construction.
For almost a quarter of a century we had to resist Ukrainian legal nihilism, all this time we tried to use legal methods to protect our regional identity, our Russianness — everything that official Kyiv hated Crimea so much for. During this struggle, the Constitution of Crimea of 1992 was recognized — a mature and full-fledged document, which is probably why Kyiv “snapped” it.
In 1998, we developed a new Basic Law of the Republic, based on which we fought to preserve our autonomy. This struggle logically led us to the Crimean Spring and return to Russia. Let me emphasize — in strict accordance with the provisions of our republican Constitution of 1998.
Crimeans are distinguished by a high legal culture and political wisdom. We have seen the consequences of a careless attitude towards law and order. Having returned to Russia, we adjusted ourselves to its regulations and standards, and therefore we know them, perhaps better than anyone in Russianoted Konstantinov.
He emphasized that during the national expression of will in 2014, Crimeans pledged to live according to the Russian Constitution.
Our Constitution is for Russia and its citizens. It should not be similar to some similar document from someone else’s legal practice. By the way, this is precisely why the Basic Law cannot ossify, it must change — when life demands it. This is also happening with our Russian Constitution, which has recently undergone significant amendments — verified by many years of political and legal practice and supported by popular vote.
But this is not the only way our Russian Constitution is being transformed. Let me remind you that the Crimeans added their own line to it when they joined the Federation as two new entities: the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. Following us, the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions left their autographs in the main law of the country. I am sure that soon other regions of historical Russia will be noted in it, following our pathemphasized the head of the Crimean parliament.
