In Kerch, a memorial plaque was opened to fellow countryman-hero — Cavalier of the Order of Courage Georgy Shakuro
CrimeaPRESS reports:
He was only 20 years old…
In Kerch, on the building of the ship-mechanical technical school, a memorial plaque was solemnly opened to a fellow countryman, a sailor from the Black Sea, who died on the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet, the cruiser Moskva, on April 13 last year.
Georgy Shakuro recently studied at this technical school. Since 2021, the young man has served as an electrician in the electrotechnical group of the electrotechnical division of the electromechanical warhead of the Moskva guards missile cruiser. During the outbreak of fire on the ship, he was in a combat post, near the emergency compartments. In heavily smoky conditions, he fought for the survivability of the ship and organized fire extinguishing. Despite his injuries and carbon monoxide poisoning, the sailor-guardsman Shakuro Georgy Kheyyamovich fulfilled his military duty to the last.
The memory of the hero was honored with a minute of silence. The memorial plaque will serve as a symbol of the memory of Georgy Shakuro in the hearts of fellow countrymen.
