In Kerch, police detained a local resident with narcotic “salt”

Kerch police officers detained a 49-year-old local resident who had no previous convictions. The woman is suspected of purchasing and storing drugs.
While patrolling the streets of Kerch, police noticed a woman who had obvious signs of intoxication and behavior that was inappropriate for the environment. During a personal search of the detainee, police found a yellow polymer package containing an unknown substance in his jacket pocket.
The woman admitted that the package contained the narcotic substance “salt,” which she purchased for personal consumption through the so-called “bookmarks.” The examination confirmed that the substance submitted for research was N-methylephedrone, weighing 0.9 grams— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.
The investigation department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Kerch charged the suspect with committing a crime under Part 1 of Art. 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Acquisition and storage of narcotic substances”). The potential punishment for the “salt lover” is imprisonment for up to 3 years.
