The child almost died.
On February 8, the operational dispatch department of the Kerch ambulance station received a call to a one-year-old child with a “shouting” reason. The ambulance team of substation No. Kerch immediately left to respond to the call.
The child’s parents said that about 15 minutes ago, the child suddenly turned red, became restless, began to scream, and convulsive twitching of the limbs appeared. At the same time, all members of the family began to feel unwell in the form of headache, weakness, dizziness, some had convulsive muscle twitches, disorientation. Trying to calm the baby and improve his condition, the mother took him outside.
Doctors, seeing that family members feel similar symptoms, discovered that in the room where they were, a home-made boiler was used, connected to a gas cylinder. Having made a preliminary diagnosis of household gas poisoning, they immediately began to provide medical assistance to the baby — oxygen inhalation, and two additional ambulance teams were called to this address, since there were four victims. As soon as the baby’s condition improved, doctors began to help adults. The whole family was taken to the hospital, and a couple of days later they were discharged in a satisfactory condition , — they said in the Crimean Center for Disaster Medicine.
This story ended happily, since the gas poisoning did not occur at night, when everyone was sleeping, and the victims sought medical help in time. However, there are many examples when such situations turn into a tragedy.
