At the Crimean Federal University. V.I. Vernadsky launched a program of professional retraining in the field of embryology. Training is carried out on the basis of the Institute of Biochemical Technologies, Ecology and Pharmacy as part of the master’s program “Biomedical Studies of Living Systems”. This was announced by the head of the Department of Physiology of Human and Animals and Biophysics of IBTEF Elena Chuyan.
The master’s program “Biomedical Studies of Living Systems” in the direction of preparation “Biology” is aimed at preparing specialists in the field of biomedicine, who understand the processes underlying health and illness, adaptation and longevity, the actions of drug and physical factors to the body, and able to carry out laboratory and functional diagnosis of the body. Today, such experts are widely in demand in the labor market: they can work both in the field of education and science, and in the field of healthcare. In addition, we give our undergraduates a unique opportunity to obtain several trajectories of vocational training, that is, simultaneously with the development of the main educational program, undergo additional professional training with the issuance of a diploma on professional retraining.
For several years, the department has an additional professional education (program of professional retraining) for clinical laboratory diagnostics with the assignment of qualification graduates “Biologist -specialist in the field of clinical laboratory diagnostics”. In April of this year, we launched the second program of professional retraining for our masters aimed at training embryologists — specialists working in the field of clinical embryology and auxiliary reproductive technologies— said the head of the Department of Physiology of Man and Animals and Biophysics of the Institute of Biochemical Technologies, Ecology and Pharmacy of KFU named after V.I. Vernadsky Elena Chuyan.
According to her, the program of professional retraining in the field of embryology is designed for nine weeks. Practical training is carried out on the basis of three clinics — partners of the Crimean Federal University: the Center for Women’s Health LLC Company Ethel; Tauride clinic of reproductive medicine «Ferti-Line»; Center for Reproductive Medicine LLC Vera.
An embryologist is a fairly new, prestigious and extremely demanded profession. It plays an important role at all stages of IVF (extracorporeal, that is, outside the body, fertilization) — from the fence of the material to the embryo transfer to the uterus, but does not make any medical manipulations with patients, engaged exclusively in biomaterial. Our program provides for access to modern equipment and technologies and has a practical orientation. Based on the results of the training, a diploma on professional retraining of the established form is issued and qualification is assigned — “embryologist”. Having received such a diploma, a graduate of the program may undergo the initial accreditation of a specialist — the procedure for testing knowledge and skills of a specialist in the healthcare sector and determining his compliance with the requirements for work in medical organizations, the requirements of the law, — Elena Chuyan emphasized.
In the process of studying on the program, students acquire the necessary knowledge in the field of healthcare, clinical embryology, the organization of laboratory service, get acquainted with legal and ethical issues of auxiliary reproductive technologies, the rules of sanitary and epidemiological regime in embryological laboratories, methods of embryological research. In the framework of practical training in reproductive medicine clinics, students of the program acquire the necessary professional skills in equipment used at the embryological stage of the programs of auxiliary reproductive technologies, obtaining biological material for embryological and clinical research, cryoconsection, cultivation of the embryo, conducting manipulations with germ cells and embryos in healing goals.
The retraining program in embryology gives not only useful theoretical knowledge, but also at the same time allows you to study in practice. Now I go to practice at the Ethel clinic. This is more introductory practice, but it can be considered the beginning of the path for subsequent work. In the clinic, we are not only shown how everything happens, but also let us try to try on the developed material, of course, without any risks for patients. Practice in the clinic is a chance to talk with people who themselves entered the profession that is actually not, because they are not taught separately at embryologists. There are special courses in Moscow and St. Petersburg, and I am glad that now they are being implemented in CrimeaSaid the undergraduate of the Institute of Biochemical Technologies, Ecology and Pharmacy of the Crimean Federal University, Yan Grigoryev.
As for the program of professional retraining for clinical laboratory diagnostics, this direction is actively developing in the region today, and clinical and diagnostic laboratories are experiencing an acute need for personnel.
In medical laboratories, general clinical, biochemical, hematological, cytological, immunological, genetic, microbiological, serological and other studies are held, and quality laboratories are created and working at the food, chemical, pharmaceutical industry, which also need specialists. Thus, our undergraduates can, at the end of training, receive three diplomas and, accordingly, three qualifications that will allow them to be in demand in the labor market— added Elena Chuyan.
The term of study at the master’s program «Biomedical Studies of Living Systems» is two years. The program provides for the possibility of obtaining in -depth knowledge in three main directions at the same time: biomedical studies of the influence of chemical and physical factors on living organisms, clinical laboratory diagnostics and psychophysiology. For the development of the program, a full-time form of training is also available.
