At the Crimean Federal University named after V. I. Vernadsky, the International Scientific Conference “Crimea in Global Policy: the region at the intersection of the struggle of world projects” was held. The event is dedicated to the 11th anniversary of the Crimean Spring.
This conference gives us the opportunity to recall those glorious days of 2014 when a referendum passed and an agreement was signed on the reunification of the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol with the Russian Federation. This historical document has become a symbol of what should strengthen our historical memory, contribute to the formation of our students and develop our scientific achievements,-quoted the press service of the university of the first vice-rector for international activities and information policy of KFU Sergey Yurchenko.

The events of February-March 2014 gave Crimeans very simple and understandable things: the opportunity to live where your native language is, where your close culture is. After the destruction of the Soviet Union, Crimea was part of Ukraine, and Ukraine “looked askance” at the mentally Russian region and financed it according to the residual principle. The Crimeans suffered from Ukrainian managers, which caused discontent, which was strengthened by the heavy economic position. And after the coup in Kyiv, the question faced the Crimean: to remain as part of a state that does not express the interests of the population of Crimea, or go to Russia. A epoch -making choice was made here, which determined our fate and fate of our children. The reunification with Russia gave Crimea development, and the main thing is that the idea of great Russian culture, the idea of unity of various peoples, was preserved and developed in Crimea. The role of the Republic of Crimea in global politics is very great. It is very important in this regard that today higher educational institutions pay attention to these events— says Elena Peasantova, chairman of the Committee of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea for education and science.
