In March, Nikita Mikhalkov will bring the play “12” to Crimea
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In March, Nikita Mikhalkov’s legendary performance-reflection “12” will be presented in Simferopol and Kerch. The story of the jury on which the fate of a Chechen young man depends will be shown by artists from Moscow. Nikita Sergeevich himself will play one of the roles. This is reported by Tourist portal of Crimea.
Twelve people gathered in the school gym must decide whether 18-year-old Umar, suspected of murdering his adoptive father, a Russian officer, is guilty. All the evidence points against the accused. The jury is ready to convict the young man. And only one of them is sure: everything is not as simple as it seems at first glance. He invites his colleagues to consider the case more thoughtfully.
“12” is a performance-reflection on what freedom, compassion, and the ability to help a complete stranger who is in trouble are; a serious conversation about what worries everyone today. The main idea of the work is always relevant: the law is above everything, but what to do when mercy is above the law? – noted the creators of the project.
The roles in the drama will be played by People’s Artists of Russia Nikita Mikhalkov, Nikolai Burlyaev, Sergey Stepanchenko, Honored Artist of Russia Vladimir Dolinsky. Also appearing on stage will be Georgy Peradze, Igor Sergeev, Sergey Radchenko, Alexander Vedmensky, Vladimir Kochetkov, Alexander Kizhaev, Ramiz Kyalbiev, Anton Romm, Evgeny Dubovskoy, Pavel Ilyin. The production involves the children’s Abkhaz dance ensemble “Amtsabz”.
The director was Nikita Mikhalkov. Moreover, he wrote the script for the play together with the playwright brothers Oleg and Vladimir Presnyakov.
