In Massandra, state traffic inspectors detained a man with 20 bundles of drugs

In the course of carrying out the traffic supervision service by the traffic police officers of the traffic police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Yalta in the village. Massandra was stopped by a Ford car driven by a 46-year-old citizen.
The traffic police officers noticed obvious signs of intoxication in the driver; during a conversation with the police, the man was visibly nervous and uncertainly answered the questions asked. During the inspection activities, traffic police officers identified and seized 20 packages with a powdered substance from the pockets of the offender. An investigative team was called to the scene. The detainee told the police that he ordered the narcotic substance via the Internet and kept it for personal use, without the purpose of sale— announced the details of the case in the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Crimea.
The seized substance was sent for examination. According to the expert’s conclusion, the contents of the bundles are the narcotic drug «Methadone» with a total weight of 18.34 grams.
In relation to the driver, the employees of the State traffic inspectorate drew up a protocol on an administrative offense under Part 1 of Art. 12.26 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (failure by the driver of the vehicle to comply with the legal requirement of an authorized official to undergo a medical examination for intoxication, if such actions (inaction) do not contain a criminally punishable act). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of an administrative fine in the amount of thirty thousand rubles with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of one and a half to two years.
A criminal case has been initiated on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Art. 30, part 4 of Art. 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The attacker was given a preventive measure in the form of arrest.
According to the current legislation, the defendant may face the maximum penalty in the form of imprisonment for a term of ten to twenty years.
