In Russia – Lung Cancer Prevention Week
CrimeaPRESS reports:
On the initiative of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, the Lung Cancer Prevention Week is being held in the country.
So, risk factors for lung cancer can be divided into two categories — internal and external. The first includes a hereditary history: if one of the blood relatives was ill or died from lung cancer, then this person has an increased risk of developing lung cancer. Also, internal risk factors include chronic lung diseases, which also automatically transfer a person to a risk group. All other factors are external. This is the work associated with harmful chemicals, diesel exhaust, asbestos, arsenic and so on. Work in rooms with increased dust content, with an increased amount of radon— explain in the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Crimea.
Smoking is the cause of the development of more than twenty-two malignant neoplasms of various localizations and increases the risk of developing lung cancer by more than 15 times.
Recommendation for patients who have undergone surgical treatment and those who have never encountered oncological pathology: be attentive to their health, follow the doctor’s recommendations for dynamic monitoring (if a person has already encountered a pathology), that is, at least once a year perform computed tomography of the chest.
And for those who have not encountered the disease, do not ignore the annual medical examination.
