In Russia — Week against Antimicrobial Resistance. Be careful — antibiotics!
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In Russia, November 20-26 is Antimicrobial Resistance Week in honor of World Antimicrobial Awareness Week.
Antibiotics are a prescription drug; “prescribing” them to yourself for viruses is pointless and dangerous to health. Acute respiratory viral infections are caused by viruses. Antibiotics are antimicrobial drugs created to fight bacteria. In addition, do not forget that antibiotics, like all drugs, have a range of undesirable side reactions. In inexperienced hands can lead to allergic reactions, even anaphylactic shocknoted the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Crimea.
Antibiotics are a prescription drug and can only be prescribed by a doctor. Irrational prescribing and use of antimicrobial drugs leads to bacterial resistance and, if a bacterial disease occurs, the antibiotic that was prescribed irrationally may not work.
