In Saki, scammers practice the old “divorce”: “Give me a mobile phone, please, I need to call urgently”

In Saki, a 16-year-old boy was the victim of a scam. It was established that an unknown man on the street asked the victim for a smartphone to call, after which … he fled with other people’s property.
In hot pursuit, the criminal investigation officers identified the suspect and detained him. A previously convicted 27-year-old resident of the Saki district, who fell under suspicion, pleaded guilty and said that he had handed over someone else’s smartphone to one of the Evpatoria pawnshops— said the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea.
The investigator of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia «Saksky» initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation («Fraud causing significant damage to a citizen»), an investigation was launched. The sanction of the article provides for punishment from a large fine to five years in prison.
