Police established that a 52-year-old local resident met a group of men on the street and drank alcohol with them until he fell asleep.
Taking advantage of the helpless state of his drinking companion, one of his new acquaintances secretly stole his smartphone and passport, and then, having gained access to the victim’s Internet banking, stole 100 thousand rubles from him, which he transferred to his friend’s account. The attacker cashed out the stolen money at an ATM, sold the stolen smartphone, and threw the documents in the trash. As a result of operational search activities, employees of the criminal investigation department of the Russian Department of Internal Affairs in the Balaklava region detained a 31-year-old suspect. A criminal case has been initiated against the detainee under paragraph “g” of Part 3 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Theft”. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to six years.
