In Sevastopol, a former official was sentenced for bribery and negligence

The Gagarinsky District Court of Sevastopol issued a guilty verdict in a criminal case against the former first deputy director of the Department of Health of the city of Sevastopol.

He was found guilty under paragraphs. “b”, “c” part 5 art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (receipt by an official of a bribe in the form of the illegal provision of services of a property nature to him, committed with extortion, on a large scale), part 1 and part 1.1 of Art. 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (negligence resulting in damage on a large and especially large scale). It was established that in 2020, the accused, being the first deputy director of the Department of Health of the city of Sevastopol, entered into 4 government contracts for the purchase of overalls and respirators for the needs of medical organizations. At the same time, he did not monitor the implementation of the procedure for determining the market value of goods and entered into these contracts at inflated prices. As a result, between April 2020 and April 2021, the budget of the city of Sevastopol suffered damage in excess of 20.8 million rubles. The actual cost of purchased personal protective equipment for medical workers was only 4.8 million rubles. In addition, from October 2019 to March 2020, through extortion, he received a bribe from the general director of a commercial organization in the form of repairs to his apartments,” reported the Sevastopol prosecutor’s office.

The illegal reward was intended for not interfering with the business activities of this commercial organization at healthcare facilities in Sevastopol, as well as for facilitating the conclusion between it and the Medical Information and Analytical Center of an agreement for the supply of handrails along pedestrian paths to the Sevastopol City Oncology Dispensary named after. In November 2021, employees of the Russian Federal Security Service for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol detained a man. A criminal case was initiated based on materials from the FSB Directorate in cooperation with the Department for Economic Security and Combating of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol. The investigation was carried out by the Main Investigative Directorate of the Russian Investigative Committee for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.

Taking into account the opinion of the state prosecutor of the prosecutor’s office of the city of Sevastopol, the court sentenced the perpetrator to imprisonment for a term of 8 years in a high-security correctional colony. In addition, he was sentenced to a fine of 8 million rubles and deprivation of the right to hold positions related to the exercise of organizational, administrative and (or) administrative and economic powers in budgetary organizations for a period of 5 years.

The convict is taken into custody in the courtroom.
