In Sevastopol, a man accused of attempted sale of amphetamine on a large scale was sentenced
CrimeaPRESS reports:
For committing a crime that was discovered by employees of the Drug Control Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol, the Nakhimovsky District Court sentenced a 40-year-old local businessman accused of attempted murder and preparation for the illegal sale of narcotic drugs on a large scale.
It was established that the café owner, who had previously been convicted of drug trafficking, in order to obtain illegal profits, purchased prohibited substances in bulk from unidentified persons, transported them to his place of residence, where he stored them, packaged them into single doses and subsequently sold them among drug addicts in the territory of Sevastopol.
In May 2024, a man drove his Hyundai car to one of the populated areas of Crimea, where he received another batch of the synthetic drug “amphetamine” weighing more than 100 grams, packaged in six plastic bags. To maintain secrecy, the drug dealer hid the prohibited goods in the car cushion and drove back to Sevastopol. Along his route, in the area of the village of Orlovka, he saw an employee of the State Traffic Inspectorate, who gave him a stop signal. Realizing that his illegal activities could be exposed, the attacker did not comply with the lawful request of the police officer, and, having hit an employee of the special unit of the Russian Guard SOBR “Falcon” who was next to the traffic inspector, he accelerated with the intention of escaping. During the ensuing chase, the drug dealer threw a pillow with drugs out of the car, thus trying to get rid of the main evidence. The offender failed to escape pursuit — within minutes his car was forcibly stopped and blocked, and he was detained— reported the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Sevastopol.
During an inspection of the scene of the incident, employees of the police investigative team discovered a car airbag stuffed with “synthetics,” and smartphones and bank cards, which the detainee used in his criminal activities, were seized from the vehicle. Also, during a search at the suspect’s place of residence, police discovered and seized high-precision electronic scales and a measuring spoon with traces of a powdery substance, packaging materials and other items of evidentiary value.
A criminal case under Part 3 of Art. 30, paragraph “d”, part 4, art. 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. During the investigation, the defendant was given a preventive measure in the form of detention.
The defendant was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment to be served in a high-security penal colony.
In addition, following the collision with an employee of the Russian Guard, the police collected and transferred materials to the investigative authorities for making a procedural decision.
