In Sevastopol, a meeting with the world chess champion was held at the Small Academy of Sciences

Krympress reports:

A meeting with Sergey Karyakin, the world in fast chess, and Ekaterina Altabaeva, and the senator of the Russian Federation took place at the Small Academy of Sciences of Sevastopol. Among the guests of the event are young chess players, including pupils of the Small Academy of Sciences, representatives of the government, the Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol and the Department of Education and Science.

The Small Academy of Sciences presents a wide range of circles and sections of additional education, but chess for us remains one of the very important directions. We are grateful to Sergey Aleksandrovich Karyakin for finding the opportunity to meet with the young chess players of Sevastopol, chat with them and give a session of the simultaneous game. The Small Academy of Sciences is an excellent platform for such an event. Today’s meeting gave an impetus to the growth and spread of the chess movement in Sevastopol. Sergey Karyakin is a wonderful mentor for our young chess players. Children are inspired by meetings with outstanding people, and I hope that in the future we can hold such interesting meetings more often,-quoted the press service of the Government of Sevastopol Senator of the Russian Federation Ekaterina Altabaeva.

The meeting was held in the “Open Microphone” format. The world in fast chess, Sergei Karyakin shared the history of his sports path.

I started my path in chess at 5.5 years old, dad taught me how to play. At first, chess was in my life as a hobby, and no one could imagine that I would become the world champion, however, slowly but surely, I was awarded this title. I began to be interested in chess, asked my parents to give me to the section to the Palace of Pioneers, and then the first successes went: I became the European champion until 10 years old, the world champion under 12 years old, and then went to the adult league. To achieve success in chess, the main thing is the desire, willingness to invest your time, effort and energy. I am sure that you do not need to lose faith in yourself, you need to use your chance and fight to the end. Children go headlong into the process during the game that they cannot be torn off, and this is very pleasing, because this is the development of the chess movement in Sevastopol. Sevastopol is almost my hometown for me, I participated here in tournaments, being a child, and I really hope that more chess events will be held in the city— said Sergey Karjakin.

For an honorary guest, they also conducted a tour of the small Academy of Sciences, and then a session of the simultaneous game of Sergei Karjakin with 22 students of the Small Academy of Sciences took place.

We have about 80 young chess players. It is very important to teach the guys to think deeply, to make you think, to analyze and look for ways to decide during the game. I believe in the bright future of our chess players, and I believe that they will succeed, but most importantly, of course, motivation, inner desire to play, learn the features of the game and win. The session of the simultaneous game is a rather complicated event, it is very important for children to observe all the rules in order to be able to prove themselves in a worthy way— said the teacher of additional education of the Chess branch Alexander Guba.
