In Sevastopol, the police received a report from local residents that a 29-year-old mother living nearby was raising her children improperly and was torturing one of them.
The police immediately arrived at the specified address and found three young children in the home. Since they were in a socially dangerous situation, they were removed and placed in a state institution. In addition, it was established that the eldest child, a 10-year-old daughter, had signs of torture and was sent to a medical institution. At present, the children’s lives and health are not in danger. The police established that the suspect did not care about the physical, mental health, spiritual and moral development of her young children: she abused alcohol, led an asocial lifestyle, beat her daughter, and spent child benefits on her own needs.— the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Sevastopol announced the details of the case.
Based on the results of the investigation, the investigation department of the OMVD of Russia for the Nakhimovsky District of Sevastopol opened a criminal case under Article 156 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation «Failure to fulfill duties to raise a minor». The materials collected by the police officers were transferred to the investigative body, since the actions of the detainee contain signs of a crime under Article 117 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation «Torture». The sanctions of the articles provide for a maximum punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to three years.
Currently, police officers continue to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
