In Sevastopol, a neighbor “helped” an elderly woman and went to the store, but pocketed her bank card

CrimeaPRESS reports:

In Sevastopol, criminal investigation officers detained a woman suspected of stealing money from a neighbor’s bank card. Wanting to enrich herself illegally, the previously convicted criminal took advantage of the gullibility of her elderly neighbor.

A 60-year-old local resident contacted the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Gagarinsky district with a statement about the theft of funds. The woman explained that she had lost her bank card a couple of weeks ago, and when she went to the bank to restore it, she discovered that all this time someone had been paying in stores with her bank card. The amount of material damage caused amounted to more than 47 thousand rubles.

The police established that the victim, due to her health condition, periodically asked her neighbor to go to the store for groceries and gave her her bank card to pay for the goods. Once again, after going to the store, my friend decided not to return the card, but to keep it for her personal use. Later, the pensioner noticed the card was missing and asked her neighbor about it, but she convinced her that she had returned it along with the groceries.— said the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.

As a result of operational search activities, criminal investigation officers detained a 44-year-old suspect. As it turned out, she had previously been prosecuted for robbery.

A criminal case was initiated against the attacker under paragraph “g” of Part 3 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Theft”), she faces a penalty of imprisonment for up to six years.
