In Sevastopol, a section of the channel and banks of the Belbek River is being cleared

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Sevprirodnadzor started clearing a section of the bed and banks of the Belbek River with a length of 1.6 km. It is planned to complete the work by 15 October.

Within the framework of the state contract, measures are being taken to remove woody shrubs, fallen trees, silt deposits, as well as stone boulders — all this interferes with natural culvert capacity and may cause a threat of flooding during the flood period of territories that are located next to water body , — the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the head of the department for regulating water use of Sevprirodnadzor Lyudmila Gurevich.

The work is carried out by the contracting organization Tekhnostroy. Monitoring of the state of water bodies is carried out on an ongoing basis — in the pre-flood period, employees of the department examine their throughput.

Recall that the clearing of channels and banks has been carried out annually since 2015 by order of the Sevprirodnadzor on the rivers of Sevastopol. The work is carried out in two stages: first, a project is developed, which undergoes an examination, after which the clearing begins. In order not to cause damage to the water body, such work is carried out during the low-water period, when the rivers are low-water.
