In Sevastopol, a sentence was passed on the driver who caused the death of a pedestrian

Agreeing with the position of the state prosecutor of the prosecutor’s office of the city of Sevastopol, the court convicted a local resident born in 1982.
He was found guilty under paragraph “b” of Part 4 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of the Traffic Rules by a person driving a car, resulting in the death of a person through negligence, associated with leaving the scene of the accident). The investigation into the criminal case was carried out by the investigative department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol. It was established that in January 2021, a man and his friends drank alcoholic beverages in a garage cooperative in the Gagarinsky district of Sevastopol. Later, in the dark, the company decided to leave the garage in a Fiat car, driven by the accused. At the same time, in the area of house No. 45 on the street. An academic driver hit one of his comrades, who left the garage earlier than the others. After this, the offender fled the scene, and the pedestrian died from his injuries in a medical institution,” noted the press service of the Sevastopol prosecutor’s office.
Based on the evidence presented by the state prosecutor, the Gagarinsky District Court of Sevastopol found the man guilty and sentenced him to imprisonment for a term of 5 years and 6 months in a general regime correctional colony. Also, according to the court’s verdict, he does not have the right to engage in activities related to driving vehicles for three years after serving the main sentence.
