In Sevastopol, a woman deceived elderly people — she will go to a colony for four years
CrimeaPRESS reports:
A resident of Sevastopol paid for deceiving elderly people, from whom she and her accomplice defrauded money by providing false information over the phone about road accidents with their loved ones. The Bakhchisarai District Court of the Republic of Crimea brought the fraudster to trial and sentenced her to four years in prison to be served in a general regime correctional colony.
As established during the consideration of the criminal case, a resident of Sevastopol, born in 1992, found an advertisement for earnings in one of the groups in the Telegram messenger in mid-April of this year. Having contacted an unidentified person, the young lady found out the conditions of the so-called work. The duties of the criminal included: searching for a person who was subsequently given untrue information that his loved one was in an accident for which he was the culprit. This was followed by an offer to transfer money for not prosecuting a loved one allegedly responsible for the accident. After that, according to a criminal scheme, the fraudster went to the deceived citizens and took money from them. Several elderly residents of Crimea became victims of scammers. The fraudster collected personal information about them and transferred it to her accomplice, on whose behalf pensioners received calls, — noted in the press service of the court.
In total, the accomplices committed 5 episodes of fraud. The criminals obtained various amounts of money, including 350 thousand rubles from a resident of Yevpatoria, 100 thousand rubles and 300 US dollars from a resident of Yalta, 120 thousand and 100 thousand rubles from residents of the Bakhchisarai region, as well as 500 thousand rubles from a resident of Bakhchisarai.
The fraudster, by prior agreement with her accomplice, transferred most of the illegally obtained funds to him, and kept a smaller part of about 5 percent for herself. At the court hearing, the defendant partially admitted guilt.
Despite the partial admission of guilt, the court, on the basis of the evidence collected and examined at the trial, came to the conclusion that the defendant was guilty and that her actions were correctly classified under parts 2 and 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation as fraud committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, as well as causing significant damage to a citizen on a large scale.
The civil claims of the victims were satisfied in full. The verdict did not enter into legal force. A criminal case against an unidentified person has been separated into separate proceedings.
