In Sevastopol — All-Russian action “No Hatred and Enmity”

CrimeaPRESS reports:

In Sevastopol, for ninth-grade students of gymnasium No. 24, employees of the Department of Internal Policy and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia conducted a preventive lesson aimed at preventing and suppressing extremist and terrorist activities, strengthening interethnic and interfaith harmony.

Schoolchildren were explained the meaning of the concepts of “extremism” and “terrorism” and were told how to protect themselves from online recruiters. Particular attention was paid to the responsibility that any citizen bears for disseminating information on social networks aimed at inciting hatred and enmity.

In the conditions of modern society, when the problems of extremism and radicalization of youth are becoming increasingly urgent, effective measures are needed to prevent these phenomena.

The head of the department for work with national and religious organizations of the Department of Internal Policy, Vladimir Kolesnikov, noted the importance of an individual approach and the formation of the right values among young people.

We approach each individual individually, taking into account the psychology of age. This work is carried out in interdepartmental cooperation, which involves the police, non-profit organizations, the Ministry of Justice and other interested departments. A key condition for our success is the ability to choose a communication language that will be comfortable for children. Here we are talking about the importance of the form of expression, methods and, most importantly, the goals of our interaction— quotes the press service of the Government of Sevastopol Vladimir Kolesnikov.

A representative of the Center for Countering Extremism of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol drew the attention of schoolchildren to the importance of complying with the legislation regarding the ban on propaganda and agitation, which can provoke social and racial conflicts. He also spoke about the consequences that may arise for such actions.

The policeman explained that posting materials on social networks that call for hatred or humiliation of people based on nationality is a form of extremism.

At the end of the event, the speakers recommended that schoolchildren be extremely vigilant and always show responsibility when using social networks, and not succumb to provocations and manipulation by destructive groups.

Since the beginning of this year, specialists have already held 13 such events with young people.
