In Sevastopol, do not mind building a nursery for growing spatha oysters
CrimeaPRESS reports:
From September 5 to September 9, Sevastopol hosts the II International Scientific and Practical Conference «Study of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems: history and modernity.» Within its framework, a round table was held on the topic «Marine biotechnologies and their application in modern conditions.» Its participants discussed the project «Creation of a fishing cluster in the city of Sevastopol». The creation of a cluster, experts say, allows attracting investments — at least 1.5 billion rubles, and also contributes to employment. Over the two years of the project implementation, the number of jobs in the field of fishing and fish processing has increased by %, and the number of jobs in the sale of fish products has also increased. To date, among the participants of the fishing cluster 55 enterprises.
Participants of the fishing industry cluster are also provided with financial support. Over 2020-
years, more than million rubles were provided. In addition, we provide non-financial support: consultations, participation in international exhibitions, mandatory state environmental expertise, product certification , — the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes Deputy Governor Maria Litovko.
Separately, the vice-governor noted the contribution of the A. O. Kovalevsky Institute of Biology of the Southern Seas to the development of science in Sevastopol. The Institute has a unique long-term experience in researching fundamental and applied problems of biochemistry, physiology of hydrobionts, experimental and marine hydrobiology, and reproductive biology. The Institute is one of the participants in the fishing industry cluster. The Government of Sevastopol is working on several joint projects of the cluster members, including the institute.
One of the priority tasks is the construction of a nursery for growing spat oysters. Scientists are developing a technology for growing spat, taking into account the characteristics of the environment. For us, it is extremely important that as many mollusks as possible take root, so that they are resistant to environmental conditions , — emphasizes Roman Gorbunov, director of the Institute of Biology of the Southern Seas named after A. O. Kovalevsky.
Due to sanctions, spat deliveries of oysters from France have been temporarily suspended, so Sevastopol specialists are faced with the task of creating their own nursery to cover the needs of local farmers.
The project will be implemented on the territory of Sevastopol through private investment. One of the investors is a local enterprise «Black Sea Biotechnologies» with experience in the aquaculture market.
The government of Sevastopol is also ready to provide the investor with existing support measures that will significantly reduce the administrative burden and, if necessary, compensate for part of the costs incurred.
