CrimeaPRESS reports:
In Sevastopol, employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations from the regions of the Southern Federal District of our country fought for victory in table tennis competitions as part of the Spartakiad of the emergency department.
At the start of the competition, Colonel Vladimir Shchedrin addressed the participants with greetings and parting words. He wished the players success and reminded that such competitions are useful for employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as they help improve physical fitness, foster cohesion, team spirit and the will to win.
The event took place on the territory of the Sports for All complex. Representatives of the Astrakhan, Volgograd, Rostov regions, Krasnodar Territory, the Republics of Crimea, Adygea and Kalmykia, as well as Sevastopol, competed at the tennis tables in a sports confrontation. There are 8 teams in total with 2 players each.
Table tennis seems like a simple game only at first glance. In practice, this sport requires extraordinary dexterity, high concentration, instant reaction, and refined technique. All competition participants showed decent preparation, passion, and determination.
According to the results of a series of games in two age categories, the honorable third place was taken by Konstantin Kryukov from the Republic of Crimea and Yuri Kuts from the Volgograd region, the second went to Yuri Mazeev from the Krasnodar Territory and Valery Khechiev from Kalmykia, and the best were Nikolai Shkurat from the Rostov region and Vitaly Sobolev from Sevastopol. In the overall team competition, the team of the Republic of Crimea was awarded bronze, athletes from the Republic of Kalmykia received silver, and the winner’s cup was won by the team from the Krasnodar Territory.
The sporting event was timed to coincide with the significant date that our country will celebrate on April 30 — the 375th anniversary of the Russian fire service. The event was decorated and the participants were encouraged by vocal and dance performances performed by artists from the Fishermen’s Palace of Culture.
