In Sevastopol — Forum of the Russian Language and Culture «The Great Russian Word»
CrimeaPRESS reports:
On the eve of the birthday of the poet Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin, from June 4 to 6, Sevastopol hosts the Great Russian Word Forum of the Russian Language and Culture. It is also dedicated to the upcoming 240th anniversary of the city.
The start of a large-scale three-day event was given by the Festival of National Cultural Societies “Mother tongue is the soul of the people”, which took place in the eco-park “Lukomorye”. Representatives of more than 10 nationalities demonstrated the cultural wealth of their peoples — folklore and choreographic numbers.
Within the framework of the forum, an interregional scientific and practical conference «Russian language and culture as the basis of interethnic dialogue» began its work on the basis of Sevastopol State University. It was attended by Senator of the Russian Federation Ekaterina Altabaeva, Director of the Department of Domestic Policy Sergei Bezdolny, Rector of Sevastopol State University Vladimir Nechaev, teachers and students of SevGU, Crimean Federal University. V. I. Vernadsky and Melitopol State University.
Surprisingly, the fact is that the Russian language, even after all the European sanctions under the conditions of a special military operation, has not lost its popularity, and is still ranked fifth among the ten most popular languages in the world. In addition, students from abroad come to us. In 2023, the number of such students who wished to study in the Russian Federation increased by about 10%.— the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes Senator Ekaterina Altabaeva.
In his welcoming speech, Sergei Bezdolny, director of the Department of Internal Policy of Sevastopol, emphasized that the conference program fully meets all the stated goals.
We got the richest, most beautiful language in our possession. And we need to carefully look at how we use it, how we protect it, how we develop it, how we strengthen it. Many speeches today will be directed precisely at this. The highlight of the event will be the connection to the scientific conference of our friends from Melitopol University. The guys lived and worked for a long time in incredible conditions of persecution of the Russian language, in fact, they were deprived of the opportunity to study and develop it, and simply communicate in it— emphasizes Sergey Bezdolny.
The program of the scientific-practical conference includes more than 30 speakers. Among the topics for discussion are the role of the Russian language in the modern world, the essence of Russian culture and education, the threat to the traditional spiritual and moral values of Russian society, the problems of literacy, language conflict, and the interaction of ethnic groups.
The Russian Language and Culture Forum will run until June 6. The final event will be the marathon of handicraft workshops «Merry Spindle», which will be held at st. Lenina, 51.
