The first wave of employment of minors has begun as part of the governor’s school labor teams. The main employers in 2024 are subordinate institutions of the departments of education and science, culture, urban economy, natural resources and ecology, labor and social protection of the population, transport and development of road transport infrastructure, departments of sports, tourism of Sevastopol, as well as private organizations and enterprises of the city .
Initially, children worked only at cultural, sports and educational facilities, and the emergence of governor’s school labor teams made it possible to expand opportunities for summer employment. For example, last year teenagers gained experience working on the Great Sevastopol Trail and in the Directorate of Protected Natural Areas and Forestry, and starting this year they will be able to work in the field of transport. In addition to the fact that the guys work during the holidays, we also hold educational, career guidance and creative events, which allows us to instill a respectful attitude towards work– the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the head of the youth affairs department Marina Slonchenko.
This summer, 70 detachments will work on the basis of 69 educational institutions of secondary and secondary vocational education. Minors at the age of 14 work four hours a day, at the age of 15 — five hours a day, at the age of 16 to 17 years — seven hours a day.
It’s great that the number of guys who will be employed in the summer is growing, and with it the list of employers and areas of work is expanding“,” notes Denis Kondratyev, deputy chairman of the Public Chamber of Sevastopol, founder and first commander of student detachments in Sevastopol.
At schools, members of labor teams monitor the cleanliness of the premises and grounds, sort archival materials, repair textbooks in libraries, and plant trees. Schoolchildren also clean areas of public gardens and parks, care for plants, conduct surveys of tourists, and work as couriers and office clerks.
I work at the Tourism Development Center. This is my first work experience. My responsibilities include surveying citizens, formatting questionnaires, and cleaning the surrounding area. Working in the city, I feel like I belong to something bigger and make Sevastopol better“, notes Maxim Sidorov, who works as part of the Akuna-Matata detachment at the Tourism Development Center.
Every month, schoolchildren are accompanied by curators from among the fighters of student groups of Sevastopol. Student mentors are involved in coordinating the work of minors at sites, as well as cultural activities. The employment of curators takes place as part of the implementation of the winning projects of the Presidential Grants Foundation with the project “Career Guidance Marathon “Find a Calling!” and the Department of Internal Policy with the project “Career Guidance Marathon” Trud. As part of our work as GShTO curators, during the preparatory stage we helped schools with employment. And in the summer, we get directly acquainted with the groups of teenagers themselves. In the summer of 2024, it is planned to hold career guidance events at children’s health camps in Sevastopol as part of the “Inspiring Generations” marathon, as well as a practical session “On the Move with the Russian Socialist Republic” to popularize labor education and career guidance for minors during the holidays.
