In Sevastopol intend to build ships

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The Governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhaev held a working meeting with the General Director of USC JSC Alexei Rakhmanov. The parties discussed the modernization and further production load of JSC «Sevastopol Marine Plant named after Sergo Ordzhonikidze», examined all the production sites of the enterprise.

What I heard and saw today suggests that in Sevastopol we will start building ships again. First of all, grain carriers, the need for them is very large. The USC has all the power. Understanding where the resources will come from for the modernization and purchase of the necessary equipment is also completely clear — this includes the funds of the Industrial Development Fund. The main question that worried me as a governor is when these plans will begin to be implemented. I heard the answer: in the very near future, next autumn, the construction of the first ships will begin. For us it is very important. These are new jobs, and a new life for Sevmorzavod, the development of a design unit, digital technologies will come to shipbuilding, grandiose plans, but the main thing is that they are all justified. We will help the company in every way we can so that these plans are realized faster, — The press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev.

Recall that in pursuance of the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin dated October 21, 2020 No. 635 “On Certain Issues of the United Shipbuilding Corporation Joint-Stock Company”, on May 23, 2022, the Sevastopol Marine Plant named after Sergo Ordzhonikidze was transformed into a joint-stock company for subsequent transfer to the United Shipbuilding Corporation Joint-Stock Company (hereinafter referred to as USC JSC). The transition of the enterprise under the control of USC JSC was completed in August 2022. In 2022, SMZ JSC also became a member of the World-Class Interregional Scientific and Educational Center «MoreAgroBioTech» as an industrial partner in the technological project «Development and transfer of technologies for small and unmanned vessels and navigation». Within the framework of interaction with the REC, joint work was organized to implement the project for the construction of unmanned marine surface and underwater vehicles at the site of SMZ JSC.

USC enterprises in Sevastopol are strategically important facilities, given their proximity to theaters and military and economic activities. They are also important from the point of view of providing the merchant and fishing fleet — the Black Sea has a rich fauna that needs to be caught, which has not happened in recent years, including due to the lack of modern ships. We are ready to offer such vessels based on modern technologies. The base of the Black Sea Fleet is located here, and therefore, there are tasks for the repair and modernization of everything that we have produced for it. In civil shipbuilding, there should be ship repair and construction of a fleet — bulk carriers from 40 to 60 thousand tons (for which there are already real projects), and in the future there may be more. Now the design of technological equipment, the ships themselves is underway, by the middle of next year we hope to have complete working and design documentation, and by this moment new machines and equipment should already be here to start work— said Alexey Rakhmanov, General Director of USC JSC.

He also added that large-tonnage large-block shipbuilding at the present stage is possible due to the construction of universal dry-cargo vessels of mixed river-sea navigation. As part of the production cycle, it is planned to fabricate metal structures on the basis of the Inkerman site, and to saturate and assemble the blocks at the site using the reconstructed dry dock.

Also today, a solemn ceremony dedicated to the 240th anniversary of the plant was held at the plant. Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev and General Director of USC JSC Alexei Rakhmanov congratulated and awarded the shipbuilders of the Sevastopol shipyard.

A congratulatory address was presented to the director of JSC «SMZ» Oleg Flusov, the employees of the plant were thanked by the Governor of Sevastopol and awarded with certificates of JSC «USC» and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia. After the ceremony, the workers of the enterprise were able to talk about exciting topics with Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev and General Director of USC JSC Alexei Rakhmanov.
