In Sevastopol, Khrustalka was “washed away” again — the consequences of the storm
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Khrustalny Beach is being restored after the recent storm, and it’s almost no longer funny, journalists note «Sevastopol newspaper».
It’s not funny, because the would-be landscapers, it seems, have not learned anything from their previous experience. But there were plenty of lessons: and when in 2015 a green rubber coating was laid on the concrete, it died ingloriously under the pressure of the first winter storm. And then, when, with enviable persistence, they began to lay paving slabs on the beach, and they were regularly washed away into the sea. The beach improvers did not lose heart, they took the tiles from the bottom and put them back in their original place. Until a new idea came up — to reinforce the tiles and fasten them with concrete. And on the eve of the 2023 season, the beach operator amused the townspeople with a new idea to put pebbles on top of the tiles, despite the warning that they too would be washed away. And then it washed away: both the tiles and the pebbles…
At the entrance to the beach, a familiar picture opens up: on the descent to the lower embankment, a worker collects tiles and puts them on pallets. He says that the stones were washed away because the tiles were already old and could not stand for long. Traces of recent devastation are also visible on the beach — the so-called lounge areas with pebbles have become bald and turned into puddles, and the fencing of these areas, unfinished during the season, angrily bristles with rusty fittings and mortgages.
But on the upper embankment a new stage of improvement continues in full swing. The shopping pavilion has already been installed, and the French carousels (with horses, as the capital’s architects wanted) “delight” the eye with their bright colors, slyly peeking out from under the packaging cellophane.
But the storm season is just beginning…
