In Sevastopol, landfills in Trenzina Balka and on the Suzdal Heights are being prepared for reclamation

The regional project «Clean Country» of the national project «Ecology» is being implemented in Sevastopol. IN 2023-2024 years, within its framework, the Suzdal Heights landfills with an area of ​​7.4 hectares and the Trenzina Balka with an area of ​​2.3 hectares, which were formed during the Ukrainian period, are being liquidated. These objects are included by the Ministry of Natural Resources in the register of places of accumulated environmental damage. 619 million rubles will be allocated from the federal budget for the elimination of landfills within two years. The reclamation process will start in 2023 year.

One of the sites that participates in the national project is «Suzdal Heights» with an area of ​​about 7.4 hectares. Here, the volume is small compared to Trenzina beam, but there is a chemical damage to the soil layer. Due to the fact that the forest on the Suzdal Heights is tightly adjacent to the landfill, it is planned to uproot trees and remove 1.5 meters of contaminated soil as part of the reclamation. After the work is completed, new trees will be planted instead of uprooted ones.

When developing the reclamation plan, the degree of soil pollution, the presence of chemical pollution, and the composition of the waste were taken into account.
