In Sevastopol on March 31 — Open regional capoeira tournament “Russian Spring”

On March 31, the Open regional capoeira tournament of the city of Sevastopol “Russian Spring” will take place for the first time. The tournament is dedicated to the tenth anniversary of Sevastopol’s entry into the Russian Federation.
The goal of the tournament is to use capoeira to unite not only the residents of Sevastopol and Crimea, but also to attract athletes from the Russian mainland, the Donetsk People’s Republic and other regions. Therefore, in addition to Sevastopol and Crimean capoeiristas, this event will be attended by athletes from Donetsk, who will visit Sevastopol for the first time. In total, about 60 athletes aged 7 to 45 will take part in the tournament. The participation of adult athletes will be a good example for the younger generationsay the event organizers.
The tournament is an official mass sports event. Judging takes place according to the rules approved by the Russian Capoeira Federation. The athletes’ performances will be assessed by a team of accredited judges of the second and third categories.
The event is held with the support of the Department of Youth and Sports of the city of Sevastopol, as well as a number of commercial organizations acting as sponsors and partners.

In 2014, capoeira was included in UNESCO’s list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity as a symbol of cultural diversity and peaceful coexistence. Since 2003, capoeira has been recognized as an official sport in the Russian Federation.
