In Sevastopol, pensioners every day fall for the scammers’ scheme and “help” relatives who have been involved in an accident
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Over the weekend, four pensioners aged from 65 to 87 years old contacted the police, who suffered from scammers who stole money under the scheme “Your relative got into an accident” and under the pretext of protecting savings in a bank account. The total amount of material damage amounted to almost 2 million rubles.
The victims of the “Your relative caused an accident” scheme were three pensioners, 72, 82 and 87 years old, who were called by scammers and told that their daughters were the cause of an accident with victims. Ostensibly to avoid bringing their relatives to criminal liability, as well as to provide medical care, telephone attackers convinced elderly women to transfer their existing cash savings to controlled couriers. Thinking that they were helping their daughters avoid trouble, the deceived pensioners gave a total of 1 million 837 thousand rubles to the scammers’ accomplices.
Dear citizens! Tell your elderly parents, loved ones and neighbors about this scheme, warn them that calls about relatives involved in an accident come only from scammers. Remember: your explanatory conversations will help protect you from criminals— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.
The strangest thing is that information about this fraudulent scheme, instructive stories, police reports are heard every day, as they say, even out of the iron… But DAILY elderly people fall for the “bait” of criminals.
