In Sevastopol, police are conducting an investigation into a criminal case of attempted theft from a supermarket
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In Sevastopol, employees of the inquiry department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Nakhimovsky district are conducting a preliminary investigation of a criminal case under Part 3 of Art. 30, part 1 art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Theft”). As it turned out, the accused decided to freely and illegally replenish his own food supplies for the New Year’s table in the amount of about 3.5 thousand rubles.
It was established that on the first day of the New Year, a 37-year-old local resident, who had previously been repeatedly convicted of property crimes, visited one of the city supermarkets with the aim of committing theft. While on the sales floor, he chose the food products he liked and put them in a bag. Having waited for the moment when the cashier was distracted by another customer, the man headed towards the exit with the unpaid item, however, realizing that his illegal intentions had become obvious to the store staff, he threw the bag at the exit and ran out into the street. Concerned citizens stopped the attacker and held him until law enforcement arrived— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.
The Russian Guard officers who arrived at the scene detained the suspect and handed him over to the patrol service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Nakhimovsky district for further investigation. For attempted theft, the defendant faces up to two years in prison.
