In Sevastopol presented a new art object — «Anchor»

CrimeaPRESS reports:

On August 24, a new art object was opened on Aquamarine Beach in Sevastopol, created as part of the Sevastopol Cultural Code festival, implemented by the ANO Center for the Formation of Civic Culture with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives. The second season of the project was a success this year: the organizers received more than 40 applications from sculptors, architects and artists from all over Russia. The victory was won by two models of art objects, one of which was the «Anchor» — it was embodied in full size. The brightest moment of the opening of the art object was a game performance by the artists of the street theater «Soft Sign»: they appeared before the audience in the form of people-fish, creating a real sea holiday.

The art object was created by a creative team called «New Hellas», which is headed by the chief architect of Kaluga, Alexei Komov, who has worked in Sevastopol and the Crimea for a long time. Anchor is a real multifunctional complex made of wood: residents and guests of the city can not only take pictures against the backdrop of a laconic design, but also sit inside, hiding from the scorching sun. In addition, in the future, the Anchor will also be an exhibition space — it will include an exposition, which is currently being developed by Alexei Komov together with the director of the City Development Institute Alexei Tikhonov.

«Anchor» is a symbol of the fleet, the «symbol of faith» of Sevastopol. We have invested a special meaning in this art object – from St. Clement of Rome, who was tied to an anchor in Chersonese and thrown into the sea, and to the architect Leonid Polyakov, who is restoring the city after the war: the outline of the anchor was taken from the parapets on Nakhimov Square. Undoubtedly, the «Anchor» looks good on the beach: the white color associated with the resort architecture, the lightness of the design… All this is very appropriate here. I am satisfied with the location and I am sure that our facility will be an excellent opportunity for further improvement of this territory.— said the creator of the art object Alexei Komov, who specially came to the opening of the «Anchor» from Kaluga.

The head of the ANO «Center for the Formation of Civic Culture» Valery Aleksandrin, in turn, noted that he was satisfied with the speed of creation and installation of the art object.

For the first time in the practice of the “Cultural Code of Sevastopol” festival, we open an art object so quickly after summing up the results of the project! I am grateful to all our partners — the Aquamarine Resort & SPA resort complex, the STROYSEV company, the Tsarskaya Pristan business center and, of course, the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives. For me personally, «Anchor» is something classic, Sevastopol, something that is impossible to get away from. In our competition, we tried to move away from stable stereotypes, but, apparently, they are so ingrained that they appear before us in new and new guises.— emphasizes Valery Alexandrin.

He also added that in the near future it is planned to open another art object, which also became the winner of the second season of the Festival «Cultural Code of Sevastopol». An incredible mosaic is created by the creator from Simferopol Igor Gladkikh. It will decorate the facade of the building in the very center of Sevastopol — on Aivazovsky Street, where the Teatralnaya Street art space is currently operating.
