On July 20, the veteran of the Great Patriotic War was a hundred years old Mikhail Latoch. The governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhaev congratulated him on his anniversary: the head of the city came home to the veteran and his daughter.

Mikhail Stepanovich Latoha is a legend man whose life is a vivid example of courage, stamina and boundless love for the motherland. His fate is a reflection of an entire era. He quotes Mayakovsky by heart and plays chess with pleasure — he has learned in his youth, so far this is his favorite game. Mikhail Stepanovich asked to put a table for chess in the courtyard of his house, and also — so that children from a chess school come to him. We will definitely solve this issue. Knowing how Mikhail Stepanovich knows how to communicate with schoolchildren, I am sure that the guys will be a great joy— said the head of the city.

Then, a concert was held in the house of the fleet officers in honor of the hero of the day. Employees of the Russian Guard, sailors of the Black Sea Fleet, and youth from the Unarmium gathered in the hall. The hall met Mikhail Latoha with applause.

Mikhail Latoha was born on July 20, 1925 in the village of Nizhny Bryansk region. The peaceful work on the collective farm was interrupted by war. He was among those whom the fascist invaders wanted to hide in Germany, but escaped from the train, which brought young people to slavery, and fell into the partisan detachment No. 113 in Belarus. After connecting with the units of the regular Red Army, he fought as part of 878 rifle regiment, 290 rifle division. In Poland, he was seriously injured and was sent for treatment to the Gorky region. After rehabilitation, he went to Gorlovka to his relatives, where he graduated from the Mountain College, and later entered the Melitopol Institute. He worked as a miner for a long time. After the fragments of Ukrainian shells fell into his house in 2014, he moved to Sevastopol, to his daughter. Actively participates in the public life of the city, works a lot with youth.
